Our Curriculum
At St John Fisher we follow the National Curriculum, supported by the Maths No Problem! mastery teaching approach from Singapore. This is a highly effective approach to teaching maths based on research and evidence. It has been created especially for children in the U.K. and follows the National Curriculum 2014.
At St John Fisher, we have high expectations for Maths and through Maths – No Problem! the pupils learn to think mathematically as opposed to reciting and using formulas they don’t really understand and develop fluency without the need for rote learning. Our aim is for children to solve increasingly sophisticated problems by making connections through developing fluency and mathematical reasoning.
Throughout their learning at St John Fisher, we aim to promote a love for the subject and it is important for the children to understand how our maths curriculum fits in to the worlds around us.
