Parents if you want to help your child learn their times tables at home in a fun and interactive way you can go on Times Tables Rockstars!
Don’t forget to look at the Maths section of our website (found in the curriculum section) for more games and apps you can use at home to support your child’s learning in Maths.
Mathletics is a great competitive way to improve your child’s maths knowledge!
Please encourage your child to use joined handwriting and ensure their ascenders are tall and descenders dangle down. We now follow a cursive handwriting scheme.
Please make sure that your child brings a water bottle with them everyday. They can also have a piece of fruit or 2 plain biscuits for break.
All week – Reading book, Reading record, Home-School Link book and Spelling Log book
Tuesday – PE kit
Wednesday – PE with Chris when
Reading books are changed every Monday. Please make sure that you have signed your child’s reading record.
Please read with your child as often as possible.
You can also access Spelladrome (part of Mathletics) and Reading Eggs with your children for a fun interactive way to read and spell.
EVIDENCE SUGGESTS THAT CHILDREN WHO READ FOR ENJOYMENT EVERY DAY NOT ONLY PERFORM BETTER IN READING TESTS THAN THOSE WHO DON’T, BUT ALSO DEVELOP A BROADER VOCABULARY, INCREASED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AND A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF OTHER CULTURES.
In fact, there’s evidence to suggest that reading for pleasure is more likely to determine whether a child does well at school than their social or economic background.
The short answer is: a lot! Parents are by far the most important educators in a child’s life and it’s never too young for a child to start, even if you’re only reading with your child for a few minutes a day.
Maths/grammar/reading/writing homework will be handed out each week on a Friday and need to be returned by the following Wednesday.
Spellings will also go out with the homework on a Friday and are tested on the following Friday.
Reading and Times tables should be practiced regularly.
